Sophie Garceau,
Before joining the Toronto Listening Centre in 1994, Sophie had studied and worked in Montreal both as a Sign Language Interpreter and Educator for the Deaf and as a Special Education Teacher with at-risk youth. She then spent 6 years in Toronto, learning from Paul Madaule, assisting him in running the Centre and collaborating in the creation and implementation of the .Listening Fitness Instructor's Course and Certification. Sophie's passion for communication and developmental psychology made her take many training courses with the Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning Disorders in Washington, DC to include the DIR™ (Developmental, Individual Differences, Relationship-Based) model and Floor Time™ in her practice with children. After six years running her own Centre de l'Écoute in Montreal, she returned to the classrooms in 2008. She is now teaching a class of deaf children with developmental disorders. Her services as a Listening Consultant are
available for candidates who would benefit from doing a home-based listening training program with the LiFT. |
